Today Debbie Gilbert, along with her parents, was recognized and appreciated at a breakfast shared with several of the people who have worked with her in ministry. For ten years, Debbie has been the coordinator of the schedule of ministry and chapel services on Sunday afternoons in several nursing homes in the Sarnia area. Co-ordination has involved leading several of the services when a pastor was ill or unable to be present for whatever reason. Today Debbie was greeted and hugged by many of the pastors and leaders who have part of the ministry. Debbie’s most faithful supporters have been her parents, June and Bill. Together with her parents Debbie accepted a plaque of appreciation.
A few words can hardly express what the ministry has meant to many people but Debbie has lots of memories of people in the nursing homes, their smiles, their hugs and their appreciation as well.
Debbie has chosen to leave this ministry in response to a call to become involved in Hispanic ministry. She as a part of a Spanish language congregation and had a heart of the migrant workers she met there. She has also been to the Dominican Republic on mission teams over the last 3 years. She is also appreciated by many Dominicans.
Thanks, Debbie, for what you have done and for what you will do in responding to God’s call on your life.
