To Boldly Go … Back to School

“…To boldly go where no one has gone before.”

Well, that Star Trek quote might be a bit of an exaggeration but it gives you the idea. Sometimes we have to step out of our comfort zone to grow and learn. Both Barb, my mom, and I are boldly going back to school.

Going back to school might not appear to be leaving a comfort zone but you have to factor in our ages. I am turning forty this week and I started college this September. I am taking the Pharmacy Technician at Lambton College. There is a good mix of students right out of high school and mature students. I did feel old when one of the students in my program told me that I was older than her parents!

Barb is also going back to school. She is taking courses online from Tyndale University College and Seminary.  Online courses can really be a challenge. They require a lot of self discipline to stay focused. This term Barb is taking History of Christianity Pt 1 and Gospel Church and Culture: Missional Leadership in the Post Modern World.

An online course involves lots of reading , essays and book reviews. Also, Barb participates in online discussions with her fellow students. The course is entirely online and that brings some challenges as well such as learning how to participate in the discussions and uploading assignments. Barb found that her fellow students were very supportive and helpful.

Maybe you are thinking of going back to school. Check out the following links to see if Lambton College www.lambtoncollege.ca/or Tyndale www.tyndale.ca/ have anything that interests you.
